Good hair days with Cat Deeley from ITV’s This Morning go with the territory of being a darling of daytime TV, but Cat really does have amazing hair.
I met her recently at an event I was photographing with L’Oreal Paris. She was being interviewed by Nadine Baggott.
I could have listened to them chat for hours, Nadine is an absolute font of all knowledge on hair and beauty and I remember her from her many years as This Morning’s beauty expert.
The event was held at Soho House White City, it’s such a buzz being at Television Centre amongst so much TV history. I first remember going there when I did my work experience on Watchdog aged 20. Princess Diana had just died and everyone was in a state of shock and waiting for the Queen to address the nation, I actually watched that broadcast in reception on one of the many tv sets in the BBC lobby, I can remember it vividly. It was a historic moment. On a Thursday evening as they recorded the show we got to sit on the phone lines in the background of the studio as Anne Robinson recorded the show live. I can still remember the excitement and buzz of being in a live show and I think thats why I went on the spend so many years at This Morning. The buzz as the show goes on air and the energy around the studio throughout the morning is absolutely addictive. The fact that anything can happen at any moment is part of the thrill.
It was a pretty special feeling going back to where it all started but very much on my own terms. It’s funny how life goes full circle and you end up where you are meant to be all along.
