Well look no further.
It’s not all about the orange colour of the leaves, the woodland location or your big natural smiles. If you’ve nailed the right wardrobe too, then it really is the icing on the cake for a fab family shoot.
Check out this gorgeous family gallery, if Mum had been wearing a really busy print, and the children had been in bright summer colours with Dad in stripy shirt, the results simply wouldn’t have been so calming, timeless or flattering. With a little preparation, assistance and know how, your family images will give you a lifetime of joy, rather than wishing you hadn’t worn that old shirt that didn’t match everyone else’s outfits – there is nothing worse than a wardrobe fail that is going to live on your mantel piece!
Before your shoot I will guide you every step of the way with my useful and illustrative shoot style guide. There’s lots of image examples, pallette and tone advice and you can send me pictures or ideas of your shopping basket before you hit the checkout to make sure you’ve got the right look nailed perfectly. I’ve even had clients bring a couple of outfit options to shoots and get changed in the car before we start.
I don’t just want you to look beautiful, I want you to feel relaxed too. And that starts with wearing something that makes you feel like you. It doesn’t have to be new, it could be the oldest thing you own but if it feels right on the day it will be the right choice, keep it simple and don’t overthink it are my main pieces of advice.
Feeling relaxed and free in your family photos means we don’t want bulky layers. We want you to look natural in outfits that flatter you, often I have you sat on the floor with your family. So whatever you wear, you need to be able to move in.The same goes for children. They should be able to run and roam and be children, no Sunday best please. Let them have fun with their outfits. As long as they match your colour palette it will all work and blend seamlessly together.
Footwear is quite a big deal on Autumn shoots. Shoes will often be on display in the pictures. So they need to fit with your outfit. But, be comfy enough to walk through the crunchy autumn leaves and run through the long grass.
I always ask parents to bring clips if their little ones have long hair. Because there’s nothing worse than a big strand of hair cutting through your little one’s fab smile.
This lovely family really nailed the perfect Autumn shoot wardrobe with knitted dresses, Dms, light knitwear, natural hair styles and baby dungarees. These outfits aren’t too trendy, so they will stand the test of time. We don’t want your family photos to go out of fashion, they are part of your story and we want them to feel important now and always.

Light and layered knitwear is perfect because you can take away jumpers or cardis yet it means you won’t get cold when the weather turns. Would you believe as we started this shoot it actually started raining and we had to run for cover. But soon the rain gave way to the most beautiful and glorious autumn sunset, when the sun is so low it’s almost blinding. Just the way I love it.
